Sun Safety First! - Fishing Tips for Kids

Meet Cora

Hi friends! I’m Cora. I love fishing so much that I am always studying how to be the best fisher kid. I want to help you be the best fisher kid too.

In this post I talk about sun safety while fishing!

Be cool, look cool

Do you think I mean cool as in a cool cat? Well I do! There are so many options for sun-safe shirts for kids. They even have fun sun shirts with patterns now!

Sun safety shirts mean less sunscreen, and thank goodness for that because putting that goop all over is NO FUN!

Sunscreen

I guess I have to talk about goop now. It is SO important to wear sunscreen when fishing. The sun reflects off the water so double the trouble! And there is nothing worse than a sunburn after a really fun day outside!

I do recommend organic sunscreens so that when you touch a fish, it will hurt the fish less. There are a lot of chemicals in sunscreen and they are harmful to the fish.

Wear a hat

Why not? They help keep the sun off your face and out of your eyes so you can see the fish!

I’m a baseball cap hat girl myself. There are also sombrero style hats, straw hats, comboy hats. It doesn’t matter what hat you wear fishing! As long as it has a brim to block the sun.

Sun gloves

Sun gloves are great if you don’t want to apply goop to your hands all day! Or have sensitive skin. Unfortunately, they can hurt the fish.

Just remember to pop them off when you go to hold that beautiful trout you just reeled in!

Thanks friends for listening to these tips! I hope they help you on your next kid fishing adventure. The more I learn, the more I share, so I look forward to the next blog post about fishing tips for kids!
